Jerry Blaine Tells What It Was Like on The Kennedy Detail

Jerry Blaine, author of The Kennedy Detail: JFK’s Secret Service Agents Break Their Silence

Jerry Blaine is a former U.S. Secret Service Agent and one of the country’s leading experts in high-level, high profile security.

In 1959, Jerry was hired as a Special Agent of the United States Secret Service, and was handpicked to serve on the elite White House Secret Service Detail, the six-man team responsible for protecting President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Subsequently, he served on the 34-man team responsible for protecting President John F. Kennedy.

His book is titled, The Kennedy Detail: JFK’s Secret Service Agents Break Their Silence.

Jerry says he was motivated by the desire to serve the United States, and that’s what allowed him to put his life in harm’s way to protect three presidents.

We discussed Clint Hill, a central figure during the assassination that many viewers of the assassination knew on sight, but few knew by name. He was the Secret Service agent who crawled on President Kennedy’s limo after the shots to protect Mrs. Kennedy.

Jerry believes in the lone gunman theory put forth in the Warren Commission report following the assassination.

Only 17 of the 60 Secret Service Agents serving on the Kennedy detail are still living. Listen to an interview of living history surrounding the JFK assassination below:
