Michael Learned was born in Washington, D.C.

She played Olivia Walton on The Waltons and won 3 Emmy Awards for her work on the show.

After the series ended in 1980, she starred in the series Nurse, for which she received a 4th Emmy.

Michael remains active as an actress on stage and television. She is temporarily stepping into the role of Katherine Chancellor on the highly rated daytime drama, The Young & the Restless, while veteran actress Jeanne Cooper takes some time off.

Concurrently, she is starring in the romantic comedy Southern Comforts at the Falcon Theater in Los Angeles.
