Doug Glanville has always been an overachiever. Drafted in the first-round by the Chicago Cubs to play centerfield while enrolled in the University of Pennsylvania’s engineering program, he successfully juggled his budding baseball career with finishing his degree.

Doug played nine Major League seasons for the Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Phillies (his favorite team growing up) and finishing his career with the Texas Rangers.

After baseball, he’s kept busy—part of that overachieving personality, I guess. He has written a popular column, Heading Home, for the New York Times—the old grey lady. He serves on the Executive Board for Athletes Against Drugs. He was a baseball analyst for XM Radio—now Doug is an analyst for ESPN. And he advises high school athletes as a special consultant to the Baseball Factory.

Doug lives with his family in the Chicagoland area.
