Discussing More Than Weather With Fritz Coleman
Fritz Coleman, legendary weatherman on KNBC in Los Angeles, discussed a variety of subjects on today’s show. Known for more than his accurate weather forecasts, Fritz talked about radio, Ventura County, comedy and microclimates.
Regarding weather, Fritz made two observations that impressed me. First, he said the technology for displaying the weather (Doppler radar, and the like) has advanced faster and farther than the accuracy of the forecasts. Weather forecasting is not a science. He also said that southern California has 9 microclimates.
Fritz spoke highly of Ventura County and acknowledged why we all live here—it’s a great place to live.
We also discussed Fritz’s other creative outlets: comedy and writing and performing in one-man plays. Fritz will be appearing in Ventura County at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Center on November, 21, 2010.
