James David “Dave” Power III founded J.D. Power and Associates in 1968. He grew the company to become the preeminent standard of quality in the automotive industry.
Dave sold his business to McGraw-Hill in 2005.
Dave serves as an adjunct professor at California State University Northridge’s business school.
He has an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Prior to starting J.D. Power and Associates, Dave was a financial analyst for Ford Motor and a marketing research consultant to General Motors’ Buick and GMC divisions.
Dave is the 1992 recipient of the Automotive Hall of Fame’s Distinguished Service Citation, awarded each year to seven of the industry’s most accomplished leaders.
