Phaedra Marriott-Olsen Describes Overcoming Adversity In Her Speech “Crashing Into Destiny”
Phaedra Marriott-Olsen’s life changed forever when an impaired driver who crossed the center line hit her in a nearly fatal, head on automobile accident.
She was paralyzed as a result of the accident. For many, their life would have been devastated, but Phaedra turned tragedy into triumph by delivering her message, “Life isn’t what happens to you. It’s what you make of it.”
Phaedra never intended to become an inspirational speaker. She planned on being a cosmetologist. In her prior life, she was a bubbly, active preschool teacher who modeled part time.
Phaedra is the former Ms. Wheelchair USA 2010.
She, her husband and two children live in Russellville, MO.
Phaedra is one of the most beautiful (inside and out) women I know! She is my MADD support person. She has been extremely supportive of me and my family in the loss of my daughter, Laura Fisher to a drunk driver 1-29-11.
She has “been there” for us, laughed with us, cried with us and has advised us as we walked thru the legal process of a murder trial (my daughter’s killer got 34 years in prison, considered a life sentence, in the state of Missouri). I honestly don’t know how I’d have made it thru without her kind and professional support!
She drove for hours, across the state, to be with us at all the hearings and trials. What an awesome lady! I cannot say enough about her! She is an angel!
