Peter Noone of Herman’s Hermits Delights Listeners

Peter Noone of Herman’s Hermits

Peter Noone, leader of Herman’s Hermits, gave us an inside look at the British Invasion of the early 1960s.

Much to my surprise, Peter said the groups of that era were very collegial and non-competitive. In fact, many of the giants of British rock took Peter under their wings because of his young age. Peter tells a story of John Lennon of The Beatles buying him drinks. Peter bought the Cokes while John bought the rum.

Peter regaled us with his stories of being on The Ed Sullivan Show. He says Mr. Sullivan was a “real gent.” Peter attended mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral on 5th Avenue with Mr. Sullivan.

We received a telephone call from Cheryl, one of the “Noonatics”—the devoted fans who follow Peter Noone and Herman’s Hermits. She said she saw Peter in Omaha, NE in the 1968. Peter recalled the concert. He remarked that another famous Omaha resident, Warren Buffett, was also at that concert.
