Dr. Toni Yancey Explains The Value Of Fitness In 10-Minute Bursts From Her Book Instant Recess
Toni Yancey, MD, MPH is currently a professor in the Department of Health Services, UCLA School of Public Health. She is co-director of the UCLA Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Equity. She spent 5 years in public health practice, first as director of public health for the city of Richmond, VA and as director of chronic disease prevention and health promotion for the LA County Department of Health Services.
She serves on the Institute of Medicine Standing Committee on Childhood Obesity Prevention and Health Literacy Roundtable, on the National Physical Activity Plan Coordinating Committee and was recently appointed to the board of directors of the Partnership for a Healthier America—the non-profit foundation supporting First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move initiative.
Dr. Yancey completed her undergraduate studies at Northwestern University, her medical degree at Duke, and her preventive medicine residency/MPH at UCLA.
Her latest book is titled, Instant Recess: Building a Fit Nation 10 Minutes at a Time.
