RE: Questions for Mr. Colin Rich:
1/ What was the lifting agent (gas) used in both balloons?
2/ At which point did the GPS turn on, and how did the signal (data) get sent back to Earth?
3/ What deployed the parachute, was there any delay’s designed in?
4/ Was there any ‘electrical’ heating involved in keeping everything working in the cold of the upper atmosphere?
5/ Is the public invited to launches, recoveries??
6/ Is there any problem with fog on the lenses?
7/ Is the rocket a single or multistage unit, and how does it separate?
8/ What is the fuel?
9/ Are there any plans on a full video version?
10/ How can one participate in the program?
Thank you.
1/ RE: 7&8 above, both in regards to any extra boost required for maneuvering, separation of stages, parachute, etc.
2/ Was a formula used to derive the drift speed/distance of the falling camera unit?
3/ Was the flight ceiling set by the balloon burst, or was there some trigger involved (barometric, etc?)
4/ Will you send a third camera up, either suspended from the canopy shrouds, or from the module to get a visual on the action of the balloon blowing and the beginning of decent? Should give some interesting insight on the process’.
5/ Is there any filter(s) on the camera lenses to enhance the pictures or inhibit IR/UV??
6/ Have you considered a small ‘homing transmitter’ to assist in locating the unit using a Yagi type antenna?
7/ Is anything reusable after a flight?
Hope to see more flights!!!
Terry,
