Jimmy Young Sweetens Up The Day Talking About McConnell’s Ice Cream

Jimmy Young, CEO of McConnell’s Ice Cream

Jimmy Young heads McConnell’s Fine Ice Cream and Yogurt—a family-owned business that is celebrating its 61st birthday this year. Despite being around for that long, it’s still one of the best-kept secrets in our area—unless you’re one of the many celebrities who rave about this fine ice cream.
Jimmy took over the day-to-day operations of McConnell’s ice cream from his father in 1999.

McConnell’s has been in business since 1949. Jimmy and his family have owned and operated it since 1963, when they purchased the company from its founders, Ernesteen and Grodon “Mac” McConnell.

McConnell’s opened it’s first store in Ventura at 3241 E. Main Street, Ventura, CA. McConnell’s of Ventura was voted #1 ice cream in Ventura County by the VC Reporter.

McConnell’s Ice Cream manufacturers their ice cream using the French Pot method. They use local ingredients whenever possible. Jimmy calls his company a “localvore.” McConnell’s is also making efforts to leave a smaller carbon foot print by using more environmentally-friendly cups and utensils.
