Ali Velshi is called, “The hairless prophet-of-doom” by Comedy Central’s Jon Stewart.

Others know him as CNN’s Chief Business Correspondent, Anchor of CNN’s Wake Up Call and a co-host of CNN’s weekday morning show American Morning.

Ali was born in Nairobi, Kenya and raised in Toronto, Ontario,

He is an Ismaili Muslim of Indian descent.

He earned a degree in religious studies from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario in 1994.

Ali is married to a New York-born hedge fund manager.

Ali is the co-author of How to Speak Money with his CNN-colleague, Christine Romans.
